What changed

Our first plan was broader than we could execute responsibly — more products, markets and business models than an early-stage company could support at once.

Plans had to survive practical questions. Is there a genuine buyer? Does the documentation exist? Is the registration usable? Can the transaction actually ship?

Those questions changed our central question. It was: how do we build a large pharmaceutical export company as quickly as possible? It became: how do we execute the first credible pharmaceutical supply relationships exceptionally well?

We came to believe that capability must be demonstrated before it is multiplied: buyers before registration spending, documents before marketing claims, real transactions before reputation claims. That became the doctrine we work by — evidence before commitment. We learned it through the work; we did not start with it.

The ambition never needed to become smaller. The sequence needed to become better.

Harshal Nikose is the founder of Lumicure Pharma Private Limited.

I am a first-generation entrepreneur. I did not come to pharmaceuticals from an inherited business or from manufacturing. My interest has always been in how durable businesses are built: how opportunities are evaluated, how systems are designed, and how an idea becomes disciplined execution.

I started Lumicure with a simple ambition: to build a serious international enterprise from India. Pharmaceuticals fitted that ambition — deep manufacturing capability here, and recurring demand in markets that depend on imported medicines.

There was no single founding moment. Lumicure developed over months of research into how pharmaceutical exports actually work. My first plan was too broad, and execution taught me sequencing.

I want Lumicure to outlast its founder — to run on systems rather than individual memory, and to remain a company where commitments keep their meaning as it grows.
